"TIMBER"

We have two apple trees in our backyard.  They have grown too big to spray the apples and one of them has some sort of a problem and the trunk is splitting.  We have been concerned that it would split and fall onto the house.  We finally gave in and borrowed a chain saw and took them down.
 

Bryton and Steven take a look in the bird's nest we found.

 One of the big limbs fell across the fence, we had to go over them, cut it into manageable pieces and toss them back into our yard.

   I created a planter box border with some of the stumps.

We rented a chipper and have plenty of bark chips to put around the yard.

   Almost cleaned up

  Now what to do with the BIG backyard?

2010 Winter Guard Championships

The 2010 Winter Guard Championships were held at Roy High School in Ogden. All of the Guards competed once, then in each category 5 guards competed for the finals. In between competitions we headed to the Burger Bar for lunch. YUM YUM! It was great to have the AMERICAN FORK HIGH SCHOOL OPEN GUARD receive FIRST PLACE!

It has been a GREAT season and a show we have loved watching every time. So here it is one last time.

Learning to Spin a Rifle

Rachael enjoys being a part of the Color Guard. She has "Spun" her flag for over a year now and wanted to learn to do the same thing with a rifle. She borrowed a rifle from the school and has been practicing in the front yard. She wasn't sure what she was doing sometime, but kept at it.














Eventually she got the hang of it. I suspect a rifle of her own will soon be on her wish list.

Tooele show

You probably think that all we do is Winter Guard shows, well . . . this time of year that is what we do. We go to Winter Guard shows. I am so glad that Rachael is involved in Winter Guard/Color Guard. She is having a great time and I love to go watch her perform. I enjoy watching the other guards also, each guard has changed something in their show. It is fun to see what has changed from week to week.

This week I sat up near the judges, I enjoyed listening to them make comments about each guard. One of them this week had such excitement in his voice as her talked into his tape recorder. Some time I would love to listen to his complete evualation of the show.

So he is the performance from Tooele.
