Fabulous Friday

Friday night our Relief Society held a "Fabulous Friday" craft night. Yummy soups, bread, and spice cake for dinner. Rachael and I had a great time making a glass block Nativity, BOO blocks, and a memory board for pictures.

The Memory Board will remind us of the importance of getting to Pennsylvania or getting Grandpa Blanco here so that we can make some memories with him.

While Rachael and I were gone, Grandpa got to entertain Austin and Sean. They played with a rubics cube type thing that lights up and make sounds.

When Rachael and I came home the house was all dark, the three boys were in the master bedroom, light off playing the game. They had a great time playing and quickly got Rachael and I involved. We had so much fun playing, that now the games batteries have gone bad and will need to be replaced. We can hardly wait until Sean and Austin are here again to play some more.

FIRST SNOW!

We woke up this morning to snow falling. It is hard to believe that the first snow of the year came on October 12th. Austin and Sean were here for the weekend and after breakfast, Sean kept asking to go play in the snow. We dug out some jackets, gloves, and hats and out we went. It was a very wet snow, and not really cold enough for it to stay long. We hurried to build a snow man and created some big snow balls, we pretty much used all of the snow in the front yard and the park strips. Bryton from next door joined us in the fun.

The final project was just beautiful!

Halloween comes early.

Tonight for Young Womens, the beehives went "Trick or Treating". They all dressed up, knocked on doors and passed out treats to the homes they visited. They also collected for Pennies by the Inch. They had a good time sharing goodies with others and helping Primary Children's Hospital. Doesn't Rachael make a really 'cool" NERD!

One of my favorite places - HOGLE ZOO

Our next door neighbor, Fran invited us to the zoo. It just happened to be a weekend that Austin and Sean were here. Richard and Rachael went in our car with Austin, Sean and Bryton. I went with Fran and the baby that she was babysitting. We wandered around, with Bryton begging after each animal to go to the snake house. We saw elephants, real and pretend.

Cougars (rise and shout) up and moving around
their enclosure.

Penguins wondering where the snow is?

The baby Giraffe with his long tongue reaching for the leaves of the trees

Camels with one hump and two

Animals of the human kind, enjoying animals of the "steel" kind.

Don't forget the zoo playground

Do they measure up? I certainly think so.
Thanks Fran, we had a GREAT time!

Preparing for a trip

We all have IPOD's at our house. Rachael has mostly music, a few podcasts, and a few movies on hers. Richard has lots of podcasts and books on his. I have only movies on my IPOD touch. Books and movies on my classic IPOD. The one thing that Richard and I have to do to get ready for our trip is go by the libraries and pick up some books on CD to load onto the IPOD.
I load one into my ITUNES library, then copy it onto a flash drive and load it into Richard's ITUNES library. We visited the American Fork, Lehi, and Pleasant Grove libaries and picked up these 19 books, they ought to keep our ears going while waiting in line at Disneyland. Thirteen days and counting!!

AN ADVENTURE OUTSIDE

We have a cat at our house. She has always been an inside kitty. We got Piddidle when Rachael was 2 years old. When we got a dog a year later, the cat didn't come upstairs anymore, because that was where the dog was, eventually she learned to co exist with the dogs and has ventured upstairs. Her favorite place in the house is the little closet under the stairs. Whenever the door is open she makes a beeline for that room. We have to make sure she is some place else before we close the door. Last night we left the front door open to let some beautiful fall air into the house. The kitty had ventured upstairs and was laying on the floor right in front of the door. A while later I headed outside with a bag of trash and who did I find on the front porch, yes, you guessed it, Piddidle. As I walked by she ran back into the house. A few minutes later, camera in hand, I came creeping into the front room to take a picture and where was the cat? I looked out the front door and I found her out on the grass, she never went any further than this. I guess the front paws on the grass was enough for her.

I hope that she doesn't get too many ideas about being outside, I don't want her getting lost. I don't know if Rachael would be able to sleep without Piddidle beside her in bed.

ANOTHER ONE IN THE BAG

We've come to the end of another season of cycling. The last race in Utah was on September 27th. The Harvest Moon Criterium was held in Ogden. Rachael came with us. We were to the race course early to enjoy the Farmer's Market. We enjoyed wandering around, seeing the sights and enjoying the smells.

(Was it to be a bike race or a horse race - notice the racer painted onto the horse)

We met up with Cindy Yorgason and had lunch before the racing began. My assignment for the day was the Wheel Pit. I haven't worked the wheel pit very often. You have to pay attention to the race so that if a rider comes into the wheel pit, you can get him back into the race at the correct place. We had quite a few racers in the wheel pit, they came in with lots of construction staples in them.

Richard was the Assistant Judge, with Doug Murry as the Chief Judge. They did a great job working together to score the races.

It was a beautiful day for a race and ended with a great win by Mike Booth in the 1/2 race. As you watch the video, notice Ira Tibbits jumping in excitement as his teammate wins. At the very end you will see Richard hard at work scoring the race.

We have had another GREAT season. Worked lots of GREAT races with lots of GREAT people. We have learned new things and been able to put them to use.

(I think we are already looking forward to next year!)
