Another weekend of Collegiate Racing - another weekend of bad weather. What is it with Collegiate Racing and bad weather. This year has been really bad, they have had to cancel one or more races every weekend for the last month. So it was really important that we hold all of the events with the U of U Races as it was the Conference Championship and lots of riders needed to get the races in so they could go to the Collegiate Conference Championships.
Saturday's first event was the Team Time Trial being held at Larry Miller Raceway in Tooele. It was another cold and rainy day for the race. The riders raced around the back side of the race track. It was a great course, no traffic on the course except for the racers going out and back on the course. We were all ready to get inside the garage/hanger for the Conference lunch when the race was over.
The criterium was held at the DVM course. Another completly closed course making things easy for all of us. It has a steep little hill at the finish that helps to make it easy to score. The weather dried up just in time for the start and it stayed dry until the end, then the down pour came again.
Sunday's road race was to have been up Kamas way. I was really glad that we were able to change the race back out to Larry Miller Race way. We made a 7 mile circuit around the back of the raceway and going around the west side of the raceway. It worked out great, we had a little rain, lots of wind. But we were able to get all of the races in and crown the Conference Champions.
Richard had a great time "racing" around the track.
