The last Monday in September is reserved for the American Fork High School Color Guard and Marching Band family and friends show. Grandpa and Grandma Anderson came down to see the show. We supported the band and had dinner at the school, pizza, nachos, pretzels, and chocolate. We had a nice visit with Grandpa and Grandma while we ate and waited for the show to start.
The show started with the Color Guard and Marching Band taking the field and playing the Star Spangled Banner and the National Guard presenting the flags.
During the parade season the band plays a collection of songs that represent each of the different arms of service. they started their program playing their parade piece and asking those who served our country to stand as their song was played.
Grandpa Anderson served in the Navy.
Our neighbors J R and Shirley Price came to see Rachael and the show. J R also served in the Navy.
Then the show began.
The band played thru their Field Show and then were presented with a set of Dog Tags from the local National Guard unit. Each member of the Color Guard and Marching Band got two dog tags, one with their name on it, the other with someone from American Fork who has served in the "Greatest Generation" Which is also the name of their show. They then perform the show a second time.
Last they invite a member of their family to come join them on the field and try to follow them as they do a portion of the program. I tried to stick like glue to Rachael, but she moves too fast.
It was a great night. We can hardly wait until the uniforms come in for the Color Guard and their backdrops are finished. The show will just get better and better! We are so proud of you Rachael and the American Fork High School Color Guard and Marching Band.
