We have a GARDEN!

We have tried lots of years to have a garden, and nothing seems to grow. But silly us we try again the next year and nothing grows. Then the nest year we bring in some top soil, now things grow but we get no fruits/vegetables. But what do we do, we try again and still no luck. So then we try some container gardening and we get a few tomatoes. They were good, but nothing like having a REAL garden. Now we come to last fall. We ran into Kevin Leake (http://bookofleakes.blogspot.com/) at a bike race and we told him that we needed something to make our garden grow. Kevin has horses and with horses you get manure. Piles and piles of manure.

One morning we get a phone call from Kevin, he is on his way to our house with a load of manure. This was not just a little bit of manure, it was a whole dump truck full of manure. We hauled manure all over our yard, filling it in around the flower beds and lots and lots and lots on the garden space. We added the grass clippings to the manure for the next couple of months, and then borrowed a tiller from George and Shirley Price.

Move forward to spring, we buy little seedings and plant seeds. We create a fence of some sort to keep our two dogs out along with Steven's two dogs. We water the plants, and of my gosh they begin to grow and they grow and they grow. The next thing we find is little peppers on the pepper plants, little green tomatoes, little honeydew melons. Oh my goodness WE HAVE A GARDEN. There is nothing as good as a fresh grown tomoto, even if they are all cherry tomotoes.

We are loving our GARDEN!
