Boise Twilight Crit

I have officiated at the Boise Twilight Crit as Chief Judge for the last three years. The first two years Richard was able to go with me, but this year I got to take Rachael. We left early Saturday morning and got to Boise in time for the Farmers Market. We had a good time wandering around, eating raspberries, sharing a pocket bread sandwich, and enjoying the crafts.

The race starts with some kids races led by Kristin Armstrong. Kristen lives in Boise and has announced her retirement from cycling. This would be her last race in her home town.
Kristen won her own race later in the evening.

It was a fun evening for us, watching our friend Mike Booth win the Cat 2 crit.

It was a really hot night. Rachael walked back to our hotel in between every race to fill our water bottle back up with ice. She would be back in time to run the lap cards and ring the bell for the final lap. It was great to have her there and to spend the time with her.

BBQ and boys

Hamburgers, hotdogs, smores, board games, sprinklers and little boys. All together for a fun evening.

Provo Freedom Festival

Lots of Bands Warming UP

American Fork Color Guard

Payson High School

American Fork on the far side of the field

Provo High gets lined up.

Springville gets ready to get on the parade route.

Just as American Fork High School Marching Band and Color Guard enters the parade route, they got hit with a fast moving rain storm.

The rain lasted just long enough to get everyone wet, probably making everyone uncomfortable as they began to march.

Thanks for sharing Hyrum with us.

Once again we were able to spend some time with Hyrum. He is Beth's son that she placed for adoption. He has a wonderful, loving family who call and let us come spend some time with him every year. We met at the Freedom Festival Hot Air Balloon Festival yesterday.

Beth and Hyrum

Hyrum played Jake's guitar for us. He has written some of his own songs.

He is very musically inclined, he also played his violin for us.

We ate breakfast, thanks to the Lions Club - all the pancakes, ham, yogurt, and bananas you can eat.

A proud birth mother looks on, while holding Hyrum's little sister.

An equally proud birth father poses with Hyrym.

So glad that such a wonderful family was chosen to raise this handsome little boy! Thank you so much for your love and willingness to share this wonderful boy with his birth family.

The Lesson

Richard has had a motorcycle for the last 4 or 5 years. I think that I only rode on his first bike once, I don't know why, but I was really scared being on it. then he got his second bike 2 years ago and I didn't get on it for the first year. Then I decided I wanted to go for a ride, and I liked it. Last summer I sat behind him and we did lots of riding. Now I've decided that I want to learn to ride the motorcycle by myself. So yesterday I had my first lesson. We took the motorcycle over to the High School and Richard gave me a lesson. I was able to drive the motorcycle all over the parking lot, around and around in circles. It was a lot of fun. I need to take the motorcycle safety class offered by the DMV, study the motorcycle handbook, do lots more riding, and then get my motorcycle endorsement. Still lots to do, but the first step has begun.

Just in case you didn't believe that I was really driving the motorcycle on my own, here is the video.
